ANNOUNCING - MAMA ALTO at the MELBOURNE CABARET FESTIVAL 2013
WED JULY 3rd 8PM / FRI JULY 5th 9PM / SUN JULY 7th 8PM
at THE BUTTERFLY CLUB, Carson Place, Melbourne
(off Little Collins near the Swanston)

Featuring a fabulous all-lady jazz trio:
TIFFANNI WALTON / ELISE WINTERFLOOD / MONIQUE ZUCCO

Countertenor diva, jazz singer and cabaret artiste Mama Alto (Benny Dimas) returns to The Butterfly Club to create a new interpretation of her acclaimed 2012 production Porgy & Bess Project. Accompanied by an all lady jazz trio (Tiffanni Walton, Elise Winterflood & Monique Zucco), an evocative dialogue is forged between immortal Gershwin songs and Mama Alto’s unique countertenor vocals – a voice that has been described as bewitching, ethereal, and intoxicating.
First performed to packed houses at the original premises of The Butterfly Club in South Melbourne during the 2012 Melbourne Fringe Festival, the show “blurs gender and stylistic lines freely, while never sacrificing the score’s beauty, integrity, or passion” (James Gavin, music author) to create “a celebration of individuality” which “yields a joyous and poignant journey through some important and enduring material” (James Cerche, themusic.com.au).

OTHER UPCOMING PERFORMANCES

Final Gala for The Butterfly Club, February 8th
Note: An apology
Contrary to what I have previously announced, I will not be performing in the February 8th Final Gala for The Butterfly Club. This is due to overwhelming interest in performing at the gala from many artists; to ease this number artists who are performing in the show room during the final week will not be performing at the gala. Therefore I encourage you to book tickets for my February 5th show in the showroom… And I do recommend you attend the Final Gala which will be a stellar night. I’ll be in the audience and I’ll be attending the after party - the fabulous last party at the original South Melbourne club before it closes down. I’ll see you there!
